Knitterly Activities

I’ve got several items on the needles still, namely Sean’s Cycling Aran cardigan that is getting close to being finished and a modified-Booga Bag that Sean requested for a LARP that he has been participating in recently. However, I have been engaging in several non-knitting, but still knitting-related activities lately.

First of all, I’ve been beading! My best friend gave me some beads for my birthday, and since I’m not much of a jewelry wearing person, I decided to learn to make stitch markers. Look at these pretties!

The first two are regular stitch markers. The last picture is a row-counter for a mystery project I’m working on (Christmas present for someone – can’t post until after Christmas!). I followed these instructions. These are really quite fun projects. Plus, I get custom-made knitting tools. Yippee!

The second knitterly activity that I’ve been playing around in is spinning. I got started this summer when I found this pretty roving at the LYS. Since I got the big bag of roving from a friend at SnB, I got all excited again and spun some more. I took some wool-blend and spun on my spindle a little here and there. I decided I wanted to spin something else from my bag of roving yesterday, so I took what I had spun off and plied it. Here are my results:

I didn’t really like the gray color, so I kool-aid dyed it with Ice Blue Raspberry. It turned out a pretty turquoise color!

There’s only 1/2 ounce of this yarn, so I don’t really know what I’m going to do with it.  Anyone has suggestions?

I’m going to go keep on knitting.  Maybe I’ll have another FO soon!
